COURSE EXPECTATIONS
Note to Students:
Welcome to your Spanish 2 class. This syllabus is intended to provide you with information pertinent to this class.
Be advised that all HCISD and HHS guidelines, policies and procedures will be enforced.

Grading Policy:
**Daily: 75%
Quiz/Test/Unit Exams: 25%
** (active participation, class & homework assignments, electronic assignments, oral presentations, written compositions, notebook and major projects)
Projects:
Students WILL BE REQUIRED to do oral presentations, individual/group activities, create projects using multimedia sources (PowerPoint, Keynote, Canva, iMovie, Movie Maker, Animoto and Prezi).
Tardy Policy:
Refer to Student Handbook for tardy policy. The door will be CLOSED and LOCKED when the tardy bell rings.
Hall Pass:
Hall pass is for restroom emergencies only. One hall pass per student. No hall passes the first and last 15 minutes of class. Abuse of passes will result in termination of privilege.
Classroom Information:
Interactive Spanish notebook will be completed and turned in every 3 weeks. Students are responsible for all papers as each student will only get ONE COPY. Ask for HELP; request tutoring IMMEDIATELY if you need clarification; or are absent; or have low grades.
Academic Integrity:
Students should maintain honesty and integrity with activities involving class assignments, quizzes, unit tests, semester exams, lab exercises, projects and research work. Any attempt to receive credit for work that you have not done is cheating. This applies to both individual and group assignments. Any student/group found guilty of academic dishonesty is subject to disciplinary action. Parent(s)/guardian(s) will be contacted. Student(s) involved will receive a zero on the assignment/test that the student(s) cheated on. These zeros are not eligible for retakes/re-dos.
Assignments:
- Always include name, date, class period and title on all papers. I will not grade without student's name.
- Complete and turn in all class work at the end of class, unless otherwise advised.
- Homework will be completed at home and turned in the following class period or submitted online before class begins.
- No individual extra credit assignments. Take advantage of class-wide extra credit opportunities.
Late Assignments:
Late assignments WILL NOT be accepted after Progress Reports go out. You will be given enough time to complete assignments in class and at home. If you are absent due to extracurricular activities, then you must make prior arrangements with me. Grade on late work will begin from "70" and must be completely done. Any assignment not turned in will receive AND remain a zero.
Electronic Devices:
Electronic devices will be used at the teacher's discretion for instructional use only. Place your cellular phone in the number pocket that is located next to the white board. Student will lose privilege to use electronics in class and get a referral if it is being used for social media sites, viewing movies, listening to music and playing video games. CHARGING ELECTRONIC DEVICES IS PROHIBITED DURING CLASS TIME.
Internet Assignments:
It is the responsibility of the student to use time in class and/or at home to complete online assignments. If there is no internet at home, then attend tutorials to complete work, visit the school's ILC, public library or a relative who can provide you with internet access.
Absences and Makeup Work:
(Refer to HHS Student Handbook for attendance policy)
- Any student who is 15 minutes or more late to class will automatically be considered absent.
- YOU are responsible for any missed work during an absence (excused/unexcused/medical). Get missing assignments from the absences bin.
- Make up work WILL NOT be discussed during class time. Make up for tests/quizzes are to be done during tutorials.
- Make up work due to extracurricular activities are treated same as excused absences. Students are responsible for material and work missed or due during those days.
Entering the classroom:
- Enter classroom in an orderly manner and go to your assigned seat. Once inside room, you cannot leave.
- Place your cellular phone in the assigned number pocket at the front of the room. Other electronic devices must be placed in your backpack.
- Have supplies ready for the day's lesson before the tardy bell rings.
- Keep backpacks and purses under the table.
During Class:
- Speak Spanish! Active participation is essential!
- Work on assigned class activities.
- You will use electronic devices only when permission is granted from teacher.
- Keep your head off the table.
- Make up application/grooming is NOT allowed. Take care of personal business before or after class.
Pre-Dismissal:
- Clean your working area, throw away trash and gather your things.
- Put supplies and other materials back in their place.
- Take your cellular phone only when I grant you permission to do so.
- See me if you have questions and/or concerns.
Dismissal:
REMEMBER: I DISMISS YOU, NOT THE BELL. Stay in your seat...DO NOT stand by the door.
Air Conditioner: Bring a sweater. Thermostat is set to prevent moisture build-up.
Student Conduct Rules/CONSEQUENCES:
Refer to the classroom poster on the wall.
Positives:
Positive notes home, Positive phone call to parent/guardian, Floating "A" pass, Drop lowest grade, Excused assignment, Free homework pass
Severe Clause:
Overt defiance or actions endangering the safety of all students will result in IMMEDIATE REMOVAL AND REFERRAL TO ADMINISTRATION.
REMEMBER:
Writing on desks, walls, classmate and teacher's property, etc. is considered VANDALISM and will be treated as such if you are caught.
